My father served with dedication for 35 years in the Phoenix Fire Department. He loved what he did and was proud to tell his stories over the years. My father enjoyed what he did so much that he had “Captain Gem” labeled everywhere, including on his license plate. We all looked up to him and always felt safe in his care when he was around.

Shortly after retirement, my father was going through chemotherapy for his occupational cancer and got to enjoy two wonderful years with his family. We all wish that we could get more time with him. He is dearly missed by everyone. The memories we have with him last forever here on earth, and we can’t wait to be with him again in heaven.
