Randall Shampoe Jr. was a dedicated community servant who served twenty-six years with the Clymer Volunteer Fire Department in Clymer, New York, as a firefighter and assistant chief. In addition to being a consistent and reliable first responder, Randy spent many hours helping with paperwork, grant writing, and equipment maintenance for the department. He enjoyed furthering his fire service education by completing many courses at the New York State Academy of Fire Science in Montour Falls, and he also volunteered with the Chautauqua County Fire Advisory Board and the Chautauqua Area Search Team.
Randy was a caretaker not only of his community, but also of his family. He took great joy in being a stay-at-home dad and caring for his children as they grew. Randy attended every one of his children’s games, concerts, awards ceremonies, and plays. He especially enjoyed working with his grandfather in construction and carpentry and boiling maple syrup with him every year. Randy also spent many years organizing the Clymer Food Pantry and was a member of the Clymer Historical Society and the Abbe Reformed Church. He was always ready and willing to lend a hand.
Randy was born in February of 1974 and died in December of 2020 due to complications from COVID. Surviving are his wife of twenty-three years, Carrie; his children, Sydney, Michael, and Trent; his mother, Sonya; and his brother, Nick.
