Robert B Kermeen was a loving and involved father of three. William, Rebecca, and Barry Kermeen. He spent his life as a Tool and Die maker until himself and his wife Marilyn bought property in Friendship, Indiana. It was at this time that Robert donated his time to the Friendship Volunteer Fire Department.

Robert and his good friend Glen received a call late night in December of 1982. They responded immediately. It is believed that potentially there was black ice on Cave Hill Road or the driver of the mid sized response vehicle entered the curve too quickly. The vehicle rolled to its right side, throwing Mr. Kermeen from the window or door not completely latched out of the the response vehicle shortly before the vehicle flipped on its passenger side, crushing Mr. Kermeen. His Memory and dedication to serving his community will live on forever.
