Robert D. Davis, affectionately known to many as Bobby D., sought no earthly promotions, yet was promoted to Heaven, at 48 years of age. Husband of wife, Heather Davis, and father of daughter, Lily Davis, Robert was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin (Go Pack Go), to Richard Davis I and Delorah Grant. A few months before Robert passed on, Richard Davis I (Vicki) preceded him to Heaven, where they are now praising the Lord together. Robert is also tenderly remembered by his mother, Delorah Grant (Steve), as well as deeply missed by his brothers, Richard Davis II and Brian Davis.
After the events of September 11, 2001, Robert dropped everything and, with the heart of a servant, deemed, “It’s go time”, and joined the United States Air Force. Bobby D. was given the role of firefighter, beginning his more than twenty years of service in the field. He continued his career at Dobbins Air Reserve Base Fire and Emergency Services in Georgia for his last 15 years here on Earth. He received many performance recognitions and accolades in every position in which he served.
Robert’s servant heart was not limited to his career but extended to all aspects of his life. He was the type of person who would give the shirt off his back…and shoes…and coat. Robert was the one who would initially and continually make efforts in his friendships by reaching out, and he’d remember everyone’s birthdays! He would regularly check on and do odd jobs for older friends with needs. He also loved coaching and mentoring kids through basketball. When help was needed, Bobby D. rushed in, ready to get the job done. Through the years, Robert loved well, took in and cared for many, whether stranger or friend, never crediting himself, but only the God of Heaven and Earth in him.
Robert had a cherishing love for his wife, Heather, whom he often referred to as “Love,” as well as his much adored and adoring daughter, Lily, whom he often referred to as, “Little Love.” As they miss him greatly, in peace, they rest in the confidence of Christ and look forward to their heavenly reunion, as all who place their faith and hope in Jesus, for Who He is and what He has done, for all. Robert is one of a kind, specifically and wonderfully made by our Creator, his holy Father, whom he has loved and is unconditionally loved by.
Our Bobby D. would often be heard saying, “Here for the team,” and he exemplified it in word and deed. May we also imitate that servant love for others as we love God.
