Brevard firefighter Robert E. Kilpatrick died September 9, 1974 at his home after suffering a coronary occlusion. He was a former Captain and 48-year member of Brevard Fire Department. His occupation was a mechanic and partner at a local auto company. His death was recognized as a line of duty death by North Carolina and his name is on the NC Fallen Fighters Memorial.
