Rodrick Shane Lambert, a hero, was born on January 11, 1972. Better known as “Rod” to those near and dear, he was such a kindhearted, generous, and honest soul.
He is the child of Steve and Sharon Lambert. Budding from Franklin, Indiana, he was the fiercest firefighter you would ever know. Walking home after a full day of learning at Northwood Elementary, with pal Manuel Navarro in tow, he would parade over to the firehouse to see the action inside.
He had given three full years of service to Wayne Township Fire Department before tragedy struck. On May 23, 1995, Rod was involved in a rollover accident on the way to a call. Although the accident left Rod paralyzed from the chest down, he never let it stop him from thriving. He stayed dedicated to Wayne Township Fire Department throughout his life. He inspired so many others with his amazing recovery, never quitting and always showing up.
Thankfully, before the accident Rod was blessed with his only son, Michael Lambert, born October 21, 1994. Rod was a devoted father through and through, never letting his disability get in the way of being a present father. Rod also got to see it through to the arrival of his grandson, Chett Lambert, born March 22, 2024. He was so proud of his parents and his boys and loved his family beyond words. He had many friends who also supported him throughout his life.
Rodrick’s last call was August 10, 2024. To have known Rod was such an honor.
