Age: 62
Year of Death: 2024

Scott D. Jenkins

Scott Duncan Jenkins was born in Nashville, Tennessee, on December 22, 1961, to the late Elizabeth and James Jenkins. He graduated from Glencliff High School in 1980. He had a passion for cars, planes, motorcycles, cooking, fishing, and playing the bass guitar.

He enjoyed riding his motorcycle with friends on weekend trips. They would plan their trips from seeing restaurants they saw on the Food Network. He looked forward to riding his motorcycle in the St. Jude parade every year and raising money for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. One of the highlights of his trip was getting to tour the hospital.

He spent 30 years as a firefighter with the Nashville Fire Department and worked as an engineer and a chaplain. He loved helping people in the community. He made lifelong friends, many of whom he considered family.

After he retired from the Nashville Fire Department, he started a monthly luncheon with fellow firemen. They gave Scott valuable moral support during his journey with cancer. His daughter Madison would go with him when she was out of school, which she enjoyed. Special thanks to firefighters, Paul King, Mike Brady, James Myres, Brian Moat, and many others, who continue to give my family support and love.

He was a member of Tusculum Cumberland Presbyterian Church from 1996 to 2022 and served as an Elder. He loved playing his bass guitar in the choir and looked forward to performing in the yearly Christmas choir program. He started attending Southpointe Community Church in 2022 and played his bass in the praise band there.

Scott was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2009. Bryson, his son, would accompany him on his motorcycle to radiation appointments. When his cancer came back in 2018, his daughter, Madison, would go with him to his appointments and drive his truck; she was just beginning to learn how to drive.

He was a devoted family man, leaving behind his wife of 28 years, Melody Jenkins; his daughters, Elizabeth “Beth” Jenkins (Brian Wilson) and Madison Jenkins; and son, Bryson Jenkins. Scott also leaves behind his brother, James “Jimbo” Jenkins (Debbie).

His daughter, Beth, lives in Juneau, Alaska. He always looked forward to her phone calls and visits. Scott and Bryson treasured the times when they would go fishing. They spent many hours talking about cars, guns, and knives. Some of Madison’s favorite things to do with her dad were getting him to do TikTok videos with her and getting him to go shopping with her. He was so proud of his kids; they were the joy of his life.

He will always be missed by his family and friends.
