Tempest Hunter

Tempest Hunter became a volunteer firefighter with the Nanuet Fire Department shortly after moving to Nanuet, NY upon returning from serving in WWII the Army Air Corps where he was a pilot. He served in the company for 17 years holding positions as an Engineer, Lieutenant and Chauffeur. Ted had driven a pumper truck to the scene of a fire on February 2, 1967, and after the hoses had been run out, he suddenly collapsed. It was determined that he died of a sudden heart attack.

Ted was born in Waddinton, NY, and had lived in Rockland County, NY for 30 years. He was survived by his wife of 27 years, Violet and his 3 children Judy, and twins Debbie and Randy (who at the age of 16 also became a member of the Nanuet Fire Department). Besides being a member of the Nanuet Fire Department, he was also a member of the Clarkstown Fish and Game Club. His hobbies included hunting and fishing, and spending his leisure time with family and friends.
