Theron Donald Johnson

On May 19, 1943, Firefighter Theron D. Johnson, age 26, of the Salt Lake City Fire Department, made the ultimate sacrifice alongside Lieutenant Melvin Lafayette Hatch and Firefighter Harry Christensen while battling a fire at the Victory Theater.

He was the son of Joseph and Harriet Johnson and is survived by his wife Shirley Grace Giles.

This firefighter line of duty fatality occurred before the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial was built in Emmitsburg, Maryland. While this firefighter has not been officially honored at the Memorial site, there are plans to do so when resources are available.
