Watch 2019 Fire Hero Family Tree Lighting

Each year the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation holds a special Fire Hero Family Tree Lighting in memory of our fallen firefighters. These trees carry ornaments sent in by families in honor of their loved ones. This special event was held during the Inaugural Winter Family Retreat.

“Your diligent effort to provide resources of comfort and support have made a huge impact. I had a wonderful time being together at the Winter Retreat. It really helped me to refocus on the joy this season can bring. Please know that your work is changing lives for the better, and I feel so blessed to be on the receiving end of it.”

Wildland Regional Introduction Sessions

Building Bridges so that Everyone Goes Home®

It turns out that wildland and structural firefighters are not all that different once you look past the yellow and blue shirts. Culture is the most critical piece to the adoption of safer practices across the fire service. This spring, the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation will host five Everyone Goes Home® in the Wildland Introduction Sessions. The two-day curriculum introduces Everyone Goes Home® concepts and the 16 Firefighter Life Safety Initiatives and is broadly aimed at those who have a responsibility to respond to fires in the wildland, even though it may not be their primary function.

Everyone Goes Home® Speak Up – Chief Robert Fling (Ret.), Dix Hills (NY) Fire Department

In this Everyone Goes Home® Speak Up, Chief Robert Fling urges all fire departments and their firefighters to be much more cognizant of the modifiable risks associated with firefighting.
