Matthew began his high school studies in an Individualized Education Program. With each passing year, he has gradually been reducing his support needs. Matthew has long understood what is difficult for him. This impacts his confidence. He realizes when he needs to seek out a teacher’s assistance. This has provided Matthew more control and a greater awareness of himself and actions.
Matthew is engaged in his second year at a school that provides the type of learning environment that is allowing him to become successful. Although he has many different interests, Matthew has chosen History Education as his major. He hopes to also be able to expand his activities to include some community service.
Although not an athlete, Matthew found a way to participate in high school sports. As a team manager, he reported the outcome of all games and the highlights. He was the manager for basketball and football. This helped Matthew socially and made him feel part of the student body.
