Firefighter Kenneth Vernon Carvin, age 20, died on July 7, 1976, from injuries he sustained in a helicopter crash during the Kings Canyon Fire in Carson City, Nevada.

He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Carvin, and brothers Robert and Gary.

This firefighter line of duty fatality occurred before the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial was built in Emmitsburg, Maryland.
